The most visited place in Tampa, Florida is Tampa Bay, although you have another option to explore more as the city houses over 165 parks and beaches. It also has number of attractions and theme parks, including Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Adventure Island, Lowry Park Zoo, and Florida Aquarium.
It has the most awaited event called “Gasparilla”, The Gasparilla Pirate festival in particular. It is an annual festival celebration held in the county in late January or early February. It celebrates the apocryphal legend of José Gaspar (Gasparilla), a mythical Spanish pirate captain who supposedly operated in Southwest Florida.
The downtown of the city county will be very crowded during the festival. Locals and foreigners are enjoying pirate-related parades. In the same event, your kids and family will be entertained by The Gasparilla Children’s Parade that generally held on Saturday prior to the main event. Local businesses and organizations participate by entering often-elaborate floats and joining the krewes in throwing beads, coins, and other trinkets to the crowd.
Besides the parades, the city also hosts Gasparilla Art Festival, Gasparilla Film Festival, Gasparilla Pageant and Fashion Festival, Gasparilla Music Festival and Gasparilla Distance Festival.
Now let us “escape” from the crowd. Many things you can do in the area. You can visit museum, historical sites and cruises. One of the examples is Clearwater Marine Aquarium. It is a nonprofit working aquarium dedicated to public education and research. It is “Window of the Sea”.
Thrill rides and wonderful animal attractions will be found in Busch Gardens. Take one full day tour there, and your kids and family will be delighted.
Try to spend your time for a “serious” tour in Tampa but it worth by visiting MOSI, Museum of Science and Industry. The museum is the largest science center in the Southeast that offers more than 450 interactive science exhibits and visual display on natural disasters, physics, astronomy and more. Even though it seems serious, trust me that you and your kids will never forget this place.
Don’t sleep too early in Tampa. Experience Tampa’s nightlife. You have Tampa Theater that features independently of wide range foreign and documentary film on daily basis.
